You can work for any company that requires admin support, from a small doctors surgery to the head office of a large bank.
As an office assistant you will work Monday to Friday, from 9.00am to 5.30pm.
You can earn a salary between £16,000 and £20,000 depending on your experience and the responsibilities you hold.
The main benefit of this role is rarely having to work weekends and being paid for time off, such as for holiday and sickness.
Office assistants can be promoted to the role of office manager, where they will be able to earn more depending on how much experience and knowledge they have.
Responsibilities are likely to include filing, typing letters, working alongside the office manager, answering the phone/door and overseeing internal and external post.
Experience of working in an office environment is beneficial, although this isn’t always required.
To be an office assistant you should be organised, a clear communicator, able to multi-task, confident at working with people of all levels, friendly and able to work in a pressured environment from time to time.
