What a year 2020 was for jobs and salaries. April and May saw average advertised salaries significantly increase suggesting that lower paid jobs were not as readily available due to Covid-19 and lockdown. By the Summer the average salary was starting to drop as more opportunities were slowly coming back onto the job market.

By the end of 2020, most of the UK had average advertised salaries above the £30,000 mark. The only area that did not was the East Midlands, short by £78 at £29,922.

London experienced consistent salary increases, month on month, for the 4th quarter with December seeing a modest rise of £75 (0.16%) to £45,744.

In summary, average advertised salaries are generally higher compared to 2019. This once again suggests that Covid-19, lockdown and UK tier restrictions have impacted most negatively on lower paid jobs.
