Job Description

Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant - Blackley

Start Date: ASAP

Full-Time | Long-Term Opportunity

Spencer Clarke Group are currently working with a specialist secondary SEN school in Blackley who are looking to appoint a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and complex additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop independence and make positive progress both academically and socially.

The Role

Supporting secondary-aged pupils with ASC and complex SEN needs.

Providing 1:1 and small-group support both inside and outside the classroom.

Supporting pupils with communication, social and emotional development.

Helping to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour using positive and consistent strategies.

Supporting pupils with their individual education and development plans.

Encouraging independence, confidence and positive engagement in school.

Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals to provide consistent support.

Creating a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for someone who is patient, resilient and passionate about working with young people with additional needs.

You should ideally have:

Previous experience working with ASC and complex SEN needs.

Experience working within a school, specialist provision, residential setting or similar environment.

A good understanding of sensory needs, communication difficulties and behaviour that may challenge.

The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.

A calm, consistent and nurturing approach.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential.Team Teach / positive handling training would be advantageous, although not essential.
