Job Description

Behaviour Support Specialist / SEN Teaching Assistant

Recruiter: GAC Education

Location: Meltham, Kirklees

Daily Pay: £80.00 – £115.00 per day (with weekly payroll)

Position Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only (Long-term assignment)

Are you someone who refuses to give up on a child? Do you have the patience, empathy, and thick skin required to turn a student's academic year around? GAC Education is looking for an impactful SEN TA / Behaviour Support Worker to make a real difference across our network of Kirklees schools.

The Role

Instead of just managing a classroom, you will be transforming a young person's educational experience. Acting as a dedicated SEN TA / Behaviour Support Worker, your days will involve supporting pupils dealing with complex social, emotional, and mental health challenges (SEMH), alongside neurodiverse conditions like ADHD and ASC.

You will be placed within inclusive mainstream or specialist alternative provisions right here in Kirklees. As a vital SEN TA / Behaviour Support Worker, your focus will be on reading the room, catching triggers before they escalate, running targeted small-group interventions, and acting as a steady, reliable mentor for students who find the traditional classroom layout overwhelming.

Who We Are Looking For

*

The Right Experience: A background in youth work, sports coaching, residential care, or previous school-based behavior roles is highly valued.

*

The Right Mindset: You remain calm in chaotic moments, possess natural de-escalation skills, and understand that "acting out" is usually a form of communication.

*

The Essentials: A valid, enhanced DBS check linked to the Update Service (or a commitment to secure a new one through us).

*

Added Value: If you hold a Team Teach or positive handling certificate, that is a massive bonus, but your attitude and resilience matter most.

The Perks of Partnering with GAC Education

We know how demanding support roles can be, so we make sure our team is properly looked after.

What's in it for you?

Great Pay: Earn an excellent rate of £95.00 – £115.00 per day, always paid a week in arrears.

True Stability: We focus on long-term, consistent roles where you can build genuine bonds with students.

Skill Building: Continuous, free access to professional development training (CPD) to boost your CV.
