Job Description

C++, Embedded , C#, Python / TypeScript, Scientific Instrumentation, Onsite (No Hybrid)

Cambs - West; £50,000 to £65,000 DoE

Based close to Cambridge, this biotech instrumentation company develops hardware platforms used for protein characterisation and cell line development. Their key technology is centred around proprietary microfluidic systems that enable quick and accurate scientific processes.

The company’s main two product lines are well-received and require maintenance and iterative updates to keep them modern and abreast of new technology advancements. They are looking to hire a Software Engineer to take a lead role over one of these product lines and deliver new features.

Requirements

  • BSc / BEng in computer science, electronics or similar (ideally holding a Master’s), and demonstrable commercial software experience working on application-level software for hardware instruments (Windows and Linux).
  • Strong programming skills with C++ including embedded. Experience with C# for instrumentation control and data analysis would be highly desirable. Any experience with Python or TypeScript would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrable experience taking ownership for software projects involving hardware. Experience with FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance would be a bonus.

This is a hands‑on role, requiring good software skills and experience for taking project responsibility and delivery. The position is fully onsite at their offices, which is close to road (A505) and train links.

Note, no company sponsorship is available. Applicants should have full, unrestricted rights to work in the UK. Preference is for applicants who are based locally (Cambridge, Royston, Letchworth, Stevenage, Biggleswade, St Neots, Bishop’s Stortford).
