Lead Technical Engineer

Salary: £37,000 - 68,500 per year

Requirements:

• 5-8 years of senior-level experience, with proven capability in SOC deployment for previous clients.
• Strong hands-on experience designing, building, and operating SOC technology, including at least two of: SIEM, SOAR, EDR, Vulnerability Management, or Threat Intelligence.
• Proven delivery record in SIEM onboarding and configuring applications for high data-ingest rates in cloud and/or on-prem environments.
• Experience with on-prem and cloud architectures, including compute and storage services, scalability, resilience, OS installation and administration, and security best practices such as least privilege and encryption.
• Strong knowledge of networking, including OSI and TCP/IP models, IP addressing, subnetting, routing protocols, LAN/WAN configurations, ACLs, and VLANs.
• Solid understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, including threat mitigation, risk assessment, vulnerability management, threat intelligence, and TTPs.
• Experience in systems administration, including endpoint security/EDR, user access control such as Active Directory and LDAP, and server hardening.
• UK Security Check (SC) clearance required.

Responsibilities:

• Lead high-level designs, low-level designs, and deployment-level designs for security solutions, specifying component interfaces.
• Specify infrastructure requirements such as RAM, disk, CPU, and network.
• Support cloud, containerized, and on-premises VM environments.
• Design network security devices, routers, switches, VLANs, DNS, and identity management capabilities.
• Oversee implementation activities and ensure entry and exit criteria are met.
• Develop test procedures for functional and non-functional requirements.
• Review and approve release documentation, guides, and requirements traceability matrices.
• Lead technology designs, guide small engineering teams, and drive end-to-end deployment for customers.

We are seeking an experienced and client-facing Lead Technical Engineer for a contract role based in Frimley and client sites, working in a hybrid arrangement with approximately 12 weeks per month onsite plus domestic and international travel. The role is a 40-hour week contract at a day rate of £792, with a focus on leading SOC solution design, deployment, and delivery for customers.
