Job Description

Could you share your interests and hobbies with people who have learning disabilities, helping them to gain new skills? No experience necessary - we provide free, full training.

Ready to make the ordinary feel extraordinary?

At MacIntyre, we don't believe in boring. We believe in Gloriously Ordinary Lives—which means supporting people with learning disabilities to live life to the absolute fullest, doing the everyday things that bring joy, independence, and purpose.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic Support Worker to join our fantastic Lifelong Learning service in Ampthill and surrounding village halls across Bedfordshire. (We also have a vibrant hub in Bedford, so there are plenty of opportunities to pick up extra shifts if you want them!)

The Hours

Enjoy a fantastic work-life balance! Your core hours will be Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with just a little flexibility needed for the occasional Saturday.

What You'll Be Doing

Because this role is wonderfully varied and split across our learning hubs and the local community, you must be a driver with your own transport.

No two days are ever the same. You will be splitting your time between:

Our Lifelong Learning Centre: A bustling, growing hub supporting over 40 amazing adults. You'll work alongside a supportive team of a Deputy Manager, Seniors, and 24 passionate Support Workers.

One-to-One Community Support: Helping people thrive exactly where they live.

What does a "Gloriously Ordinary Life" look like?

It looks like David*. David has his own job, but he loves the extra support we provide with his home life. Once a week, you might join him for a big batch-cooking session. Through this, you're not just cooking—you're helping David learn vital new skills, eat healthier, and save his hard-earned money by ditching expensive takeaways.

From diving into people's favourite hobbies and pastimes to teaching essential life skills—like managing a budget, looking after a home, and staying healthy—you will be the catalyst that helps people lead active, independent lives.

Then we want to hear from you!
