Job Description

Senior Consultant @ Citadel Source | On a mission to reset the standard within Accountancy and Finance Recruitment

Citadel Source is delighted to be partnering with INSPHERE on a newly created Financial Controller role, reporting directly to the CEO.

About INSPHERE

INSPHERE is a small but ambitious company developing innovative robotic and automation technologies that help high-value manufacturers work with greater accuracy and efficiency. Based at the Bristol & Bath Science Park, it’s a close-knit, collaborative team of specialists with an excellent culture. The business is growing steadily and entering an exciting stage in its journey, with international expansion and new product development on the horizon.

The role

Reporting to the CEO, the Financial Controller is a “number 1” role, taking full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the finance function. It’s a hands‑on position requiring strong cash management and accurate financial reporting. This role would suit an experienced, proactive accountant seeking ownership within a dynamic SME environment.

About you

You’ll be a qualified accountant with experience gained from either practice or industry, with a good grounding in accounts preparation, forecasting and variance analysis. We’re looking for someone who can work independently, give confidence in the numbers, and take ownership of the full finance function.

Responsibilities

Taking ownership of all financial control and reporting within the business

Preparing budgets, financial forecasts and variance analysis, including Balance Sheet, P&L and cashflow projections

Producing timely monthly management accounts for the Board and investors

Coordinating the year-end close process and supporting the external audit

Managing day‑to‑day bookkeeping and ensuring all accounts are reconciled monthly

Processing stock movements and cost‑of‑sale calculations

Overseeing payroll processes and liaising with the external payroll provider

Managing accounts payable and receivable activities

Handling financial elements of grant‑funded R&D projects

Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and researching technical issues where required

Managing HMRC reporting, submissions and tax compliance

Developing and maintaining finance processes, policies and internal controls

Supporting gross margin analysis and the financial assessment of revenue models

Benefits

Full‑time or part‑time options (0.6 – 0.8 FTE considered)

25 days’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays

Company pension scheme

Hybrid working (typically 2 days per week in the office)

Flexible core hours to support work‑life balance
