ABOUT THE CLIENT

A London deep tech company building foundational AI models that understand compiled software at the binary level. Their model takes a stripped binary, a firmware image or a third party library and works out what is actually inside it, with no source, no symbols and no sandbox.

Founded in 2023 by a PhD in cyber security and AI who developed the core technology during his doctorate, and who worked as a malware analyst and reverse engineer at two well known security firms before that. The founder is a reverse engineer, not a commercial founder who hired one.

15m dollar Series A raised in 2026, led by a NATO backed venture fund alongside a US government aligned investor and several established European VCs, following an earlier seed round. Around 22m raised in total. Enterprise and defence customers including allied governments. Alumni of the NCSC for Startups programme.

Around 20 people. This is frontier work, not a product team maintaining someone else's platform.

THE ROLE, SECURITY RESEARCHER

The clearest way to describe this is in the founder's own words: they do not want someone to analyse malware, they want someone to build the systems that analyse malware.

The person they are looking for has come from threat research, threat intelligence or malware analysis, and has already started automating their own workflows using AI and large language models. Someone who got bored doing it by hand and built something instead.

You would take that instinct and apply it inside the business, building out the analysis pipelines and automation that sit on top of their binary models.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build systems and pipelines that automate malware and binary analysis
• Apply LLMs and ML components to security research workflows
• Develop and productionise analysis capability inside the platform
• Work directly on the models that reason over compiled software
• Contribute research and technical writing, the team publish under their own names

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

• Commercial background in malware analysis, threat research or threat intelligence
• Real software engineering ability, Python, Go, C or C++
• Hands-on work with large language models or ML components, applied to real problems
• Evidence of automating your own analysis workflows

DESIRABLE, NOT ESSENTIAL

• Reverse engineering and binary analysis, IDA Pro, Ghidra, Binary Ninja
• Published research, CVEs, conference talks or CTF results
• Firmware or embedded analysis
• Backgrounds from the major EDR, threat intelligence or big tech security teams
