CPS Group are working with a global IT consultancy who are looking for an experienced Senior SQL Server DBA to primarily support with a key public sector client.

This is an opportunity to work within a large, business-critical Microsoft environment, supporting SQL Server platforms across development, test and production.

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation you will be in the Cardiff office 1-2 times a week.

The Role

Manage and support SQL Server databases across multiple environments.
Monitor and optimise database performance, including query tuning and indexing.
Manage backups, restores, recovery and HA/DR solutions including Always On.
Support database security, access controls, auditing and encryption.
Work with Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
Automate administration and maintenance using PowerShell.
Support production issues, deployments and database changes.
Work closely with development and infrastructure teams, acting as a senior technical escalation point.

Requirements

Strong commercial experience as a SQL Server DBA.
Excellent SQL Server administration and performance tuning experience.
Experience with Always On / HA/DR, backups and recovery.
Knowledge of SQL Server security and encryption.
Experience with Azure SQL.
PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
Knowledge of Windows Server / Active Directory.
Experience of DevOps / CI-CD or Infrastructure as Code would be advantageous.
SC clearance or eligibility to obtain SC clearance.
