Senior Sql Database Administrator

Cardiff. Hybrid working (1–2 days per week in the office, rest from home)SC clearance eligibility requiredWe're recruiting for a Senior SQL Database Administrator to join a global consultancy, working on one of their major public sector accounts.You’ll be responsible for managing and supporting SQL Server databases across development, test and production environments, ensuring they remain secure, reliable and performing effectively.This is a senior role where you’ll take the lead on diagnosing complex database issues, support live production systems and act as an escalation point for other technical teams. You’ll also work closely with developers and infrastructure teams on performance improvements, releases and wider changes to the database estate.They’re looking for experience across:Supporting business-critical production environmentsPerformance tuning and query optimisationBackups, restores and recovery strategiesHigh availability and disaster recovery, including technologies such as Always On Availability Groups, clustering or log shippingDatabase security, access control and auditingPowerShell scripting and automationWindows Server and Active DirectoryKnowledge of Azure SQL Database or Azure SQL Managed Instance would be beneficial, as would exposure to database CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code or Power BI environments. However, strong hands-on SQL Server DBA experience is the main priority.You’ll also have the opportunity to share your technical knowledge, support more junior team members and help improve and automate the way the database estate is managed.The role requires travel to Cardiff once or twice a week and eligibility to obtain SC clearance, including five years’ continuous UK residency.The interview process consists of two stages over Teams.
