Job Description

Job Title: Administrator

Location: The Bridges, Crow Wood Health Park, Crow Wood Lane, Widnes, Cheshire, WA8 3NA

Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday flexible with 9am - 5pm

Trust: North Cheshire and Mersey FT

Role type: Temporary for 3 months with possibility of extension

Support the Halton Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy Service with a range of administrative support tasks

Duties & responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy Service.
  • Act as a first point of contact for parents, carers, schools, healthcare professionals and external agencies, handling enquiries professionally and sensitively.
  • Manage referrals, appointment bookings, clinic schedules and waiting lists, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Maintain confidential patient records and update electronic healthcare systems in line with NHS information governance requirements.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, meeting agendas and minutes for clinical and management teams.
  • Liaise with speech and language therapists, multidisciplinary teams, schools and community services to support effective patient care.
  • Respond to telephone, email and written enquiries, escalating complex issues where appropriate.
  • Support service performance through accurate data entry, record management and production of routine reports.
  • Organise meetings, training sessions and clinic administration, ensuring smooth day-to-day operation of the service.
  • Assist with stock control, ordering office supplies and maintaining administrative systems.

  • An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS
  • Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times
  • A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation

  • Ability to speak politely and professionally with parents and carers and professionals
