Multi-Skilled Engineer Electrical Bias West Yorkshire / North Yorkshire £21.26 per Hour + Excellent Benefits 48-Hour Week Over 4 Days Are you an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer with a strong electrical background looking to join a successful and established food manufacturing business? Our client is a highly regarded manufacturer with a strong reputation within its sector. Due to continued investment and development, they are looking to appoint a Multi-Skilled Engineer to support their manufacturing operations across sites in the West Yorkshire / North Yorkshire area . This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys fault finding, problem solving and continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Role Working as part of the engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving plant, machinery and site services, ensuring maximum reliability and performance. Key responsibilities will include: Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities. Diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment faults. Maintaining and improving plant, machinery, assets and site services. PLC fault finding, repair and programming. Supporting the continuous improvement of maintenance practices. Undertaking improvement projects to increase machine efficiency and output. Installing and commissioning new equipment when required. Ensuring all engineering work complies with food safety and Health & Safety standards. Using engineering systems and processes effectively, including CMMS. Maintaining appropriate shift documentation and supporting engineering stock control. Working collaboratively with Production and other departments to resolve engineering issues. The role will involve working with modern automated manufacturing equipment and requires a strong electrical skill set alongside broader mechanical engineering capabilities. The Candidate We are looking for a genuinely multi-skilled engineer with a strong electrical bias and significant experience within manufacturing, FMCG or a process environment. You will ideally have: Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent. NVQ Level 3, ONC Electrical Engineering, BTEC Level 3 Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent. 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations. Strong electrical knowledge alongside multi-skilled engineering capabilities. PLC fault-finding, repair and programming experience. Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. Experience with automated electro-mechanical manufacturing equipment. Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and instrumentation-controlled systems. At least five years' experience within manufacturing, packaging or processing. Food manufacturing experience would be advantageous. Knowledge of facilities plant, steam boilers and refrigeration would be advantageous. Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). Knowledge of 5S, Lean and TPM manufacturing techniques. A good understanding of HACCP principles. A full UK driving licence and your own transport. The ability to work effectively under pressure. A strong work ethic and positive, can-do attitude. Good written and verbal communication skills. A collaborative approach and ability to communicate effectively across different departments. The requirement for an electrical engineering qualification, strong electrical background, PLC experience and manufacturing experience is central to the position.
