Data/ Database Engineer - RDBMS & NoSQL Hybrid - 3 days onsite | Financial Services | Contract / PermanentWe're looking for an experienced Senior Database Engineer to join a major financial services technology and data transformation programme. This is not a traditional BAU DBA role. You'll work closely with application teams and Data Architects to design, engineer and deploy database solutions into production, with a strong focus on automation, standardisation and modern engineering practices.What You'll Be DoingEngineer and deploy Oracle, PostgreSQL and NoSQL database solutionsWork with Cassandra, MongoDB and/or CouchbaseBuild and configure database environments across development through to productionAutomate database provisioning, configuration and deploymentsIntegrate database changes into CI/CD pipelinesSupport performance tuning, query optimisation and complex troubleshootingEngineer for high availability, resilience, security and recoverySupport database migrations, upgrades and modernisation initiativesWork closely with developers, architects and infrastructure teamsWhat We're Looking ForStrong hands-on Oracle and PostgreSQL experienceExperience with at least one of Cassandra, MongoDB or CouchbaseStrong database engineering, performance tuning and troubleshooting skillsAutomation experience using Terraform, Ansible, Python and/or ShellExperience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and GitExperience supporting highly available, business-critical systemsStrong understanding of database security, resilience and operational riskFinancial services, banking, capital markets or another regulated environment is highly desirableThe PersonYou'll be a strong DBA who has evolved into a modern Database Engineer - technically hands-on, automation-focused and keen to replace repetitive manual processes with reliable, reusable engineering solutions.
