Operations Manager: Roost Coffee House - Soham, Cambridgeshire £35,000£40,000 per annum | 40 hours per week | Full-time
Start date: Mid-October 2026
This is an opportunity to join Roost at a really exciting point in our journey.
Were opening our second Roost Coffee House in Soham this November, and its going to be a big step forward for the business.
Our new site will be around five times the size of our existing coffee house, with approximately 60 covers and a bigger food offering spanning breakfast, brunch and lunch, alongside the pastries, cakes, bakes and toasted sandwiches our customers already love.
The new coffee house will be located within Scampers Pets , part of the national Pets Corner group, which has around 160 stores across the UK.
And were looking for an Operations Manager to help us make it happen.
About Roost Roost is all about creating somewhere cosy, comforting and welcoming a place where great coffee, good food and genuine hospitality come together.
We're an independent business, and that means we're able to move quickly, try new things and genuinely listen to our customers and our team.
Our second site represents a major milestone for us. But we're not thinking of it as simply shop number two.
We're entering into an exciting new partnership with Pets Corner and, potentially, the beginning of a much bigger journey for Roost.
That's where you come in.
The Role As Operations Manager, you'll play a key role in running our two existing and new operations, with the majority of your time based at our new Soham site.
You'll work closely with the owners and take real responsibility for making sure the business operates brilliantly day to day from people and suppliers to food, service, standards and commercial performance.
You'll also have the opportunity to help shape what Roost becomes next .
This isn't a role where you'll simply be handed a rulebook and asked to follow it.
We want someone who will bring ideas, challenge us when appropriate, develop the team and help us build the systems, culture and standards that will allow Roost to grow.
What you'll be responsible for You'll have responsibility across both Roost sites, including:
Recruiting, onboarding and developing our team
Creating and managing rotas
Training and developing staff, supervisors and future managers
Maintaining consistently high standards across both sites
Managing stock, inventory and ordering
Building strong relationships with suppliers
Food safety, HACCP and compliance
Health & safety
Customer service and resolving customer issues
Monitoring KPIs, sales and profitability
Helping launch and establish our new Soham site
Managing the day-to-day operation of a significantly larger venue
Developing our menu alongside the owners and team
Organising events and building relationships within the local community
Helping develop supervisors and managers as the business grows
Putting effective processes and systems in place across both sites
Working with the owners to identify opportunities to improve and grow the business
Who we're looking for We're looking for an experienced hospitality operator who loves people, food, coffee and creating great experiences .
You'll probably have experience managing a café, restaurant, coffee shop or similar hospitality operation, and you'll be comfortable taking responsibility for a team and the commercial performance of a business.
Multi-site experience would be great, but it's not essential.
More important to us is that you're someone who:
Is a natural leader who people want to work with
Is organised and commercially minded
Has exceptionally high standards
Is hands-on and isn't afraid to get stuck in
Can stay calm when things get busy
Cares about genuine customer service
Enjoys developing people and seeing them succeed
Is confident taking ownership and making decisions
Has plenty of ideas and isn't afraid to share them
Understands that great hospitality is about the little details
Wants to build something rather than simply manage something
We're looking for someone who can eventually take real ownership of the day-to-day operation, giving the owners confidence that the business is being looked after to the standard we'd expect ourselves.
Why join Roost? Because you won't just be joining a coffee shop.
You'll be joining us at the beginning of what could become something considerably bigger.
You'll have the chance to help open our second site, build and develop a larger team, shape our food and drinks offering, establish the systems and standards we'll need as we grow, and work with us on the future direction of the business.
Our new partnership with Pets Corner gives Roost an exciting platform, and we're exploring what that could mean for the future including the potential for further expansion.
For the right person, there's genuine scope to grow with us as the business grows.
You'll have a direct relationship with the owners, a genuine voice in how the business develops and the opportunity to help shape the next chapter of Roost.
The practical stuff Salary: £35,000£40,000 per year, depending on experience
Hours: 40 hours per week
Location: Predominantly Soham, Cambridgeshire, with responsibility across both Roost sites
Start date: Mid-October 2026
Working pattern: To be agreed
The new Soham site is due to open in mid-November , so you'll be joining us at the beginning of the build-up and will be instrumental in getting the operation ready for launch.
Interested? If you're an experienced hospitality manager who is looking for more than simply another management job and you'd like to help build something from the ground up we'd love to hear from you.
