The Role As a Principal IT Data Systems Engineer, you will provide Digital Engineering Technical Leadership and IT Data Systems Integration expertise to enable a Digital Engineering project to meet its business objectives working as a partnership with, Project and Programme Management and acting as a Product Owner.

Day-to-day, you’ll be leading engineering and technical teams with a particular focus on the IT Data systems solution acting as the Technical Leader to deliver high quality technical outputs in respect to IT Systems, Data Management and the Application of AI.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading technical delivery across Waterfall and Agile projects, assigning work to suitably qualified engineers and supporting solution development

Ensuring delivery of high-quality technical outputs to agreed time, cost and quality objectives

Maintaining consistency of engineering processes, methods and tools while ensuring compliance with governance and business standards

Translating customer and system requirements into technical solutions, Agile features and user stories, while assuring integrated engineering outputs

Identifying and managing technical risks, providing technical leadership, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams and contractor contributions

Driving delivery of innovative digital engineering solutions, including IT systems, data management and AI applications, while ensuring customer requirements and project goals are met without compromise to quality or compliance

Essential experience of the Principal IT Data Systems Engineer:

Experience of IT systems integration, data management and cloud computing environments

Knowledge and application of AI technologies within complex technical solutions

Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, toolsets and Agile delivery methodologies

Proven track record of delivering IT and digital engineering projects to successful outcomes

Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement and communication skills across multidisciplinary teams

Sound judgement in technical decision making with a strong understanding of engineering governance and compliance standards

Essential qualifications for the Principal IT Data Systems Engineer:

This role is 37 hours per week based at either our Bristol, Amesbury, Farnborough or Malvern site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Must be willing to travel to customer sites.
