Job Description

Electrical Shift Engineer

Salary: £46,500 + overtime
Location: Halifax
Shifts: Days & Nights (Continental Shift Pattern)

A fantastic opportunity which is not to be missed by a strong Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer. This is an engineer's dream opportunity to work within a state‑of‑the‑art, highly automated manufacturing facility for a globally recognised business that continues to invest heavily in both its people and technology.

Working within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance on a range of plastic extrusion and injection moulding equipment, alongside supporting continuous improvement projects to maximise plant reliability and performance.

Sector: Factory Maintenance

Non‑Negotiable Requirements

  • Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias.
  • Minimum NVQ Level3 Engineering Qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to work a continental days and nights shift pattern.

Requirements

  • Strong electrical fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Mechanical maintenance experience on industrial machinery.
  • Experience working within manufacturing, production, processing, plastics, FMCG, packaging, recycling, logistics, automation or similar industrial environments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience maintaining plastic extrusion or injection moulding machinery.
  • 17th or 18th Edition Electrical Qualification.
  • Apprentice trained or equivalent.
  • Experience using CMMS systems.
  • Experience working as a Maintenance Engineer within the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on manufacturing equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement projects and equipment upgrades.
  • Reduce downtime through effective breakdown response.
  • Complete maintenance documentation and work orders accurately.
  • Assist with machinery installations and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to maximise equipment performance.
