Shift Engineer (Electrical)

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused Shift Engineer (Electrical) to join our Facilities Management team at the prestigious University of Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Electrical Engineer who enjoys working in a dynamic environment, ensuring critical building services are maintained to the highest standards while delivering an exceptional service to our client. Working as part of a multi-skilled engineering team, you'll be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance across a diverse estate, helping to maintain a safe, compliant, and efficient environment for staff, students, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults efficiently and safely.
  • Complete maintenance tasks in line with statutory compliance and health & safety requirements.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of building services systems and associated plant.
  • Accurately complete job records, maintenance reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Respond to emergency callouts and support business continuity requirements when necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, subcontractors, and client stakeholders.
  • Ensure all works are completed to agreed service levels and quality standards.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Electrical NVQ Level 3
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • Experience working within Facilities Management, Building Services, or a similar maintenance environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of health & safety and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
