Job Description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and organised Bookkeeper to support the finance function. This role is ideally suited to an individual who enjoys working independently, takes pride in maintaining accurate financial records, and is looking for a position that offers flexibility around family or other personal commitments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile the cashbook on a regular basis.
  • Manage petty cash records and reconciliations.
  • Process purchase ledger invoices and ensure appropriate coding and authorisation.
  • Prepare and post journals as required.
  • Reconcile related party and intercompany accounts.
  • Set up supplier payments through online banking systems for approval.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and cash management activities.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with month-end procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Respond to supplier queries and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Provide general finance and administrative support as required.
  • Support with ad hoc tasks and projects.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a bookkeeping or finance administration role.
  • Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles.
  • Experience working with accounting software packages.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Professional and confidential approach to handling financial information.

Desirable:

  • AAT qualification (Level 3 or Level 4) or equivalent.
  • Experience preparing journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience using online banking platforms.
  • Previous experience in a growing SME environment.
