Teaching Assistant – Specialist School

Maidstone | Full-Time | £15.68 per hour

We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inspiring special school in Maidstone. This role is ideal for someone who is committed to helping students with additional needs thrive — and for those considering a future career in teaching or education.

About the School

We are a specialist setting for students aged 11–18 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) . Our school prides itself on delivering personalised learning in a nurturing, inclusive environment , where every pupil is supported to reach their full potential.

The Role

Monday to Friday – 9am to 4pm

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

Support students with their learning, development, and emotional wellbeing

Work 1:1 and in small groups , both in and outside the classroom

Help deliver engaging, personalised learning activities

Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction

Assist teachers with planning, resources, and student progress records

Build strong, respectful relationships with students

Support pupils in developing skills for independence and future success

What We’re Looking For

Experience working with young people (school, care, youth work, or volunteer background)

GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths

A genuine passion for working with students with additional needs

A positive, resilient, and proactive attitude

Strong communication and teamwork skills

A commitment to personal and professional development
