Payroll Manager

Your new company You will be working for a large business in the UK, managing the payroll team and ensuring the end-to-end payroll process is managed effectively. Your new role
Lead and manage the payroll team to ensure the four weekly payroll is run efficiently and accurately.
Ensure that appropriate verification and audit processes are properly performed in respect of all changes to colleague payments/deductions.
To undertake detailed review of payroll prior to BACS processing.
Approve all payroll reconciliations.
Ensure full compliance with HMRC and statutory regulations
Ensure the completion of all weekly costing and period end processes, including submission of accurate information to HMRC in line with RTI requirements
Processing and payment of all statutory and regulatory elements including pension auto enrolment requirements.
Processing annual and ad hoc bonus payments and implementation of annual pay awards
Ensure system upgrades and enhancements are managed in conjunction with HR system provider to deliver performance improvement
Ensure all fiscal and tax year-end payroll requirements are met within statutory timescales (e.g. production of accurate P60s, P11Ds).
Provide advice on complex payroll queries ensuring best practice and legislative requirements are met
Understand and make the business aware of the impact of new legislation/regulations on payroll and society and develop and implement changes.
What you'll need to succeed
Full right-to-work in the UK with prior experience working and managing a Payroll team in the UK
Previous experience of managing the end-to-end payroll cycle for a high volume, multisite business.
Payroll Qualification is preferred
Payroll system knowledge with the ability to develop systems and other processes to achieve accuracy and efficiencies
Knowledge of payroll systems, including time/attendance and colleague self-service
Team management experience with the ability to lead, train and motivate a small team
Knowledge of applicable employment tax laws (HMRC, PAYE, Auto-enrolment etc.)
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Ability to understand the impact of new legislation/regulations on payroll and develop and implement changes
