To achieve this ambitious vision, we’re assembling the best team in the world - dedicated to turning cutting-edge science into life-changing, real-world solutions.About This RoleWe’re looking for a Hardware Electronics Engineer to take ownership of the electronics platform that powers our next‑generation biosensor devices. Working closely with the founders and a multidisciplinary team across firmware, mechanical, optical and systems, you’ll translate product goals into robust architectures and executable development plans, taking designs from early concepts through prototypes, verification and release.What You’ll DoTake technical ownership of the electronics architecture for our medical device, driving development from early concept through prototype, verification and product releaseDesign mixed‑signal electronic systems, integrating optical modules, battery management, power electronics, motor drivers, user interface electronics and supporting sensorsDesign schematic capture and multi‑layer PCBs, selecting appropriate components and integrating commercial modules into robust product designsDevelop and validate battery charging, power management and low‑power system architectures for portable medical devicesDesign interfaces for miniature cameras, LEDs, pumps, motors and user interface hardware including buttons, indicators and status LEDsBring up, debug and validate prototype hardware using laboratory test equipment, identifying root causes and implementing robust design improvementsWork closely with firmware, mechanical, optical and systems engineers to ensure seamless hardware integration across the productPlan and scope electronics development activities, identifying technical risks, defining development priorities and estimating work required to achieve project milestonesOwn the electronics design documentation, including schematics, design calculations, test plans, verification reports and manufacturing documentationLead electronics risk management activities, maintaining Design FMEAs and supporting system‑level risk analysis throughout product developmentWork with PCB manufacturers, assembly houses and component suppliers to support prototype builds, design for manufacture (DFM) and design for test (DFT)Identify and establish the laboratory equipment, software tools, suppliers and development processes required to build a world‑class electronics functionContribute as a hands‑on individual contributor while helping shape the future electronics capability as the team growsWhat You BringThe ideal candidate must have:Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in Electronic Engineering or a closely related discipline. With 3-5 years' industry experience developing electronic products from concept through prototype and into manufactureStrong experience designing mixed‑signal electronic systems including analogue, digital and power electronicsExperience with schematic capture and multi‑layer PCB design using Altium Designer (or an equivalent ECAD package)Experience selecting components, designing circuits and integrating commercially available modules into complete electronic systemsExperience designing battery-powered embedded systems including battery charging, power regulation and power managementExperience designing interfaces for motors, pumps, LEDs, cameras, sensors and other peripheral devicesStrong hardware debugging skills using oscilloscopes, logic analysers, power analysers and other laboratory equipmentExperience with PCB bring‑up, fault finding and hardware verificationUnderstanding of EMC/EMI, signal integrity and design for reliabilityExperience working with contract manufacturers and supporting PCB assembly and prototype buildsExperience planning technical work, managing electronics risks and taking ownership of engineering deliverablesExcellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering teamA proactive mindset with a willingness to take ownership of challenging technical problemsNice to haveExperience developing electronics for medical devices or regulated productsExperience with optical systems including cameras, LEDs, photodiodes or imaging hardwareExperience designing motor driver circuits or fluidic/pump control systemsExperience with USB, USB-C or battery charging ICsFamiliarity with embedded firmware development and debuggingKnowledge of Design FMEA, Risk Management and Design Verification within regulated product developmentExperience supporting Design for Manufacture (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Test (DFT)Familiarity with standards such as IEC 60601, IEC 62304 or ISO 14971Experience working closely with external PCB manufacturers, assembly partners and component suppliersPrior work in a start-up or small company environmentWho You AreWe valorise culture as much as we value technical expertise, creating an environment that’s equal parts collaboration, curiosity, and fun.
