Call Centre Customer Service

Call centre operators spend much of their time answering the phone and processing customer orders, as well as recording and resolving customer complaints.

Who can I work for?

Most organisations have a call centre, whether it be in the same building, or located elsewhere. As a result, work within a call centre is fairly easy to find.

Where and when can I work?

While working as a call centre operator, you could expect to work in an office environment, although rarely typical office hours. Hours are often around 40 a week for those working full-time, consisting of a mix of early mornings, late nights, and weekends.

What can I earn?

A salary for a call centre worker is often anything between £10,000 and £15,000 a year, rising to around £25,000 a year for those in supervisory roles.

What are the benefits?

Those managing a call centre can earn in excess of £30,000, so it is well worth getting as much experience within this role as you can, to aid progression.

Are there chances of promotion?

Call centre operators can progress into a supervisory role within the call centre should they wish to, earning an increased salary as a result.

What will I be responsible for?

Responsibilities differ in this role, ranging from dealing with customer complaints to answering customer queries and recording technical faults.

Do I need any experience?

Experience is not always needed as on the job training is given. However, any customer service experience is an advantage.
