Job description Based at our Waukesha Bearings manufacturing plant in Glasgow, as a Manufacturing Engineer you will be primarily responsible for the creating and planning of CNC programs, utilising CAM software to control contour path machining of metal parts on automatic machine tools, coordinate required tooling and fixturing, whilst supporting our continuous improvement initiatives to positively influence our lean manufacturing efforts.

The facility has a broad range of multi-axis milling and turning centres and associated equipment, the workload being a high-mix of customised fluid-film bearings, seals and isolators with typical applications in turbo and industrial machinery, supplying customers throughout Europe and further afield.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Analyse drawings, sketches and design data of parts to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools and machine speeds and feed rates

Determine reference points and direction of machine cutting paths

Analyse routings during programming stage and updates processes to guarantee CNC machine tools are used to their fullest capability

Compute angular and linear dimensions, radii and curvatures, and outlines sequence of operations required to machine parts

Create CNC Programs in line with routed operations using available software

Create set-up documents to supplement written programs
