Job Description

Construction Manager – Project Delivery

Excelsior Group Limited | Midlands£65,000–£75,000 + Car/Car Allowance + Bonus + Benefits

About Excelsior

Excelsior Group Limited is a growing, family-run principal contractor delivering residential schemes across the Midlands and South East, typically ranging from £6m–£25m.

With a strong pipeline of secured work, we are looking for an experienced Construction Manager to join our operational team.

The Role

You will be the key link between our sites and the wider business, working with Site Managers, Commercial, Procurement, Design and the Directors to keep projects on programme and issues resolved.

You will oversee projects end-to-end – from pre-construction, mobilisation and groundworks, through the build programme to commissioning, completion and client handover.

Programming is fundamental to the role. You must be able to create, update and interrogate construction programmes, understand critical path and sequencing, identify slippage early and implement recovery plans.

You need to be as comfortable walking a site and challenging a Site Manager as you are chairing a project meeting and reporting to the Directors.

Key Responsibilities

* Operational oversight of multiple live projects.

* Create, maintain and interrogate construction programmes.

* Drive programme, sequencing, logistics and delivery.

* Support and challenge Site Managers and subcontractors.

* Identify programme risk and implement recovery strategies.

* Coordinate site requirements with Commercial, Procurement and Design.

* Ensure labour, plant, materials and information are available to programme.

* Lead project and progress meetings.

* Provide concise reporting to Directors on progress, risk and required decisions.

* Input into pre-construction, buildability, logistics and value engineering.

* Drive projects through completion, handover and defects.

* Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, quality and compliance.

About You

You are likely to have progressed through Site Management, Senior Site Management or Project Management with a UK main contractor or residential developer.

You will need:

* Strong technical construction knowledge.

* Proven experience delivering residential or comparable projects.

* Excellent construction programming skills.

* Strong Micro...
