Job Description

What’s The OpportunityIf you are a Structural Engineer with a proven track record in defect diagnosis and structural investigations, we have an opportunity to join our experienced team. Your role will involve carrying out site inspections, and preparing reports and schedules of remedial works. These inspections will be on a variety of properties across sectors, including residential, commercial, healthcare and education.This role is based in our Liverpool office and will also involve supporting the team day to day with client liaison, fee proposals, invoicing and mentoring other members of the team. The role will be flexible with a combination of office, site and remote working. The preference is full time; however, a 4-day working week will be considered for the right candidate.What you need to do to be effective in this roleCarrying out structural surveys of buildings and structures and providing advice on any issues that may ariseSite visits to assess suitability for alterations and produce design drawingsPrepare reports on observations, findings and recommendationsPrepare schedule of remedial worksOversee the production of design drawings and preparing specifications for tender purposesAnalyse and report on structural defects and remediation if requiredVisiting sites during the construction phase to monitor progress and provide advice to contractorsUnderstanding and following internal QA procedures and processesAssisting with preparing fee proposals and scope of services for new projectsAssisting with managing the fees on projects against the scope of services and issuing invoicesLiaising positively with clients and maintaining strong client relationships and repeat workMentoring and supporting other less experienced team membersSkills and experience you need to have for this roleAbility to evidence broad and proven structural design experience in core materials: concrete, steel, masonry and timberAbility to evidence a breadth of UK based structural design and investigation experienceExcellent communication skills, in both written and spoken EnglishMIStructE / MICE Chartered membership is preferred, but is not essential for the right candidate with strong evidence and a proven track record.
