Learning Support Assistant - LSA

Location: Portsmouth

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full-Time

Salary: £96 - £105 per day

Masterclass Education is proud to be working in partnership with a number of specialist SEN schools across Portsmouth. These schools provide high-quality education and support for pupils aged 3–19 with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, complex learning difficulties, and physical or sensory needs.

Each setting is known for its inclusive and nurturing environment, highly dedicated staff teams, and strong commitment to supporting every pupil to reach their full potential both academically and personally. This is an excellent opportunity for Teaching Assistants, Support Workers, or individuals looking to begin a rewarding career within Special Educational Needs (SEN) education.

The Role

As part of the support team, you will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning and develop confidence, independence, and social skills.

Key responsibilities include:

* Supporting pupils aged 3–19 with a range of additional needs including Autism, communication difficulties, and complex learning needs

* Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to support personalised learning and development

* Supporting the delivery of engaging and differentiated learning activities in line with individual education plans

* Using specialist communication strategies such as Makaton, PECS, visual timetables, and sensory approaches (training can be provided)

* Helping to create a calm, safe, and structured learning environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing

* Providing support with personal care, mobility, and feeding where required (full training and support available)

* Assisting pupils during lessons, therapy sessions, and community-based learning activities

* Encouraging positive communication, social interaction, and independence
