Job Description

Controls Engineer (Automation) – Shift Role

Reporting to the Automation Manager, the Controls Engineer will support and maintain automated manufacturing equipment across the site. The role will focus on troubleshooting, fault finding, system optimisation and continuous improvement of automation systems. You will work closely with Maintenance and Engineering teams to keep equipment running efficiently and minimise downtime. This is a shift-based role supporting a 24/7 manufacturing operation, so flexibility and a team-focused approach are essential.

Responsibilities

* Provide technical support for automated manufacturing equipment.

* Diagnose faults, troubleshoot issues and identify root causes.

* Work closely with Maintenance Technicians to resolve equipment problems.

* Support and maintain:

* PLCs and control systems

* Robotic systems and controllers

* PC-based control systems

* Industrial PCs and HMIs

* Automated instrumentation and control devices

* Serialisation and track & trace systems

* Floor IT systems

* Support automation projects, equipment upgrades and system improvements.

* Help improve equipment reliability, performance and availability.

* Contribute to technical documentation, standards and best practices.

* Support the wider Engineering and Maintenance teams when required.

Requirements

* Degree or higher qualification or Trade-qualified Electrician, Instrumentation Technician or Mechatronics Technician with relevant automation experience

* 2–3 years’ experience in automation, controls or a manufacturing environment.

* Experience working with PLCs, robotics, SCADA and industrial control systems.

* Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.

* Experience in a high-volume or regulated manufacturing environment is an advantage
