Job Description

Senior Data Engineer - Microsoft Fabric
£70,000-£80,000 | Lancashire | One day per week in the office

You've built with Microsoft Fabric. Now you want the room to make decisions, solve problems and take ownership of how a platform develops.

This role gives you that scope. Fabric is already in place, with foundations to build on and plenty to improve. You'll help move the business towards a more consistent, scalable approach to data engineering, creating pipelines and models that support reporting, analytics and day-to-day operations.

Working alongside BI, analytics and software development colleagues, you'll combine hands-on engineering with helping others get more from the platform.

What you'll get stuck into

Building and improving Fabric pipelines and notebooks.

Creating reusable data models and reliable ingestion processes across APIs and databases.

Using SQL and Python to automate processing and reduce manual work.

Structuring and optimising data for Power BI.

Improving data quality and establishing engineering practices colleagues can build on.

You'll have a say in how things are designed and the responsibility to see them through. It's a good fit if you enjoy understanding the business problem as much as building the technical solution.

What you'll need

Practical Microsoft Fabric experience is essential, including building pipelines and working with data storage and transformation.

You'll also bring strong SQL, Python and data modelling skills, an understanding of lakehouse and warehouse approaches, and experience preparing data for Power BI.

You should be comfortable taking ownership, explaining your decisions and sharing your knowledge with colleagues. Previous sector experience isn't essential.

The practical details

£70,000-£80,000, one office day per week in Lancashire, flexible working hours and a 36.25-hour working week, alongside healthcare benefits
