Mechanical Engineer

Astute's Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Energy company, to recruit for a Mechanical Engineer to join their new-build Energy from Waste Power Station, currently in construction, in Tilbury, Essex.Once fully operational, the EfW will process 350,000 tonnes of waste per annum to generate c.40MW of electricity to export to the national grid which is enough to power c.90,000 homes.The vital Mechanical Engineer role comes with a salary of up to c.£65,000 + £4,694 location allowance + Bonus + Overtime + Pension + benefitsResponsibilities and duties of the Mechanical Engineer roleLeading and managing a team of mechanical technicians to ensure the plant is maintained to the highest standard to ensure maximum plant availability.Scheduling, planning and optimising all mechanical maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner.Supervising and directing contractors on siteWorking closely with the operations department to assess and review plant performance shortfalls and how these can be rectified.Assisting in the setting up and development of the sites Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner and in line with company Health, Safety and Environmental policiesWorking closely with the EPC team during the build and commissioning phase to understand the plant and place new staff on key trainingRecruitment of the Mechanical Technicians to join the team as it is a new build plantPlanning and execution of outages once the plant is fully operationalDeputise for the Engineering Manager as and when requiredProfessional qualificationsIdeally a HNC, or similar, in a relevant engineering subject such as Mechanical EngineeringIOSH/NEBOSH will be advantageousPersonal Skills, Prior Experience and KnowledgeProven supervisory / management experience in heavy process engineering environments such as Power Generation (Energy from Waste, Biomass, Coal, CCGT, CHP, etc), Paper Mills, COMAH sites, Steelworks, Refineries, etcGood knowledge of legislation such as PSSR, PUWER, LOLER, CDM, etcOutage planning and execution experiencePrior experience of P&L responsibilityGood knowledge of CMMSSalary and benefits of the Mechanical Engineer roleA basic salary of up to c.£65,000£4,694 location allowanceBonusOvertimePrivate medicalOther excellent company benefitsWe do not discriminate on the grounds of age, race, gender, disability, creed or sexual orientation and comply with all relevant UK legislation.
