Trainee Fire Sprinkler Installer / Engineer

Job Purpose

We are looking for a practical and motivated individual to train as a Fire Sprinkler Installer / Engineer.

This is a trainee position within the fire protection industry; however, applicants must already have some experience of working on construction sites or within a relevant trade or technical environment. The successful candidate will understand how construction sites operate and the importance of following drawings, regulations, safety procedures and quality standards.

Full training in the installation of fire sprinkler systems will be provided, offering the opportunity to build a long-term career within a specialist and growing industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation of fire sprinkler pipework, brackets, fittings, valves and sprinkler heads.
• Learn to read and work from technical drawings, installation plans and specifications.
• Measure, cut, prepare and assemble pipework under supervision.
• Assist with system testing, maintenance and remedial work.
• Follow installation instructions, design requirements and relevant industry standards.
• Work safely and comply with company procedures and site-specific health and safety rules.
• Complete training records, site paperwork and other required documentation.
• Take care of tools, equipment, materials and company vehicles.
• Work alongside experienced sprinkler installers, engineers and site supervisors.
• Communicate professionally with site managers, customers and other trades.
• Travel to different construction sites and stay away from home when required.

Training and Development

The successful candidate will receive supervised, practical training in fire sprinkler installation, including:

Sprinkler system components and installation methods.

Reading drawings and understanding system layouts.

Pipework preparation and installation.

Relevant fire sprinkler standards and regulations.

Testing, inspection and quality requirements.

Site safety and safe working practices.

Progression will depend on demonstrated competence, reliability, quality of work and the successful completion of required training.

Working Conditions

This is a site-based role involving physical work, manual handling, the use of tools and access equipment, and working at height. The role will involve travel to different sites and may require early starts, overnight stays and periods of working away from home.

Reporting To

Site Supervisor, Contracts Manager or Project Manager.
