Job Description

Java Software Engineer – Active SC £70 per hour Umbrella | Inside IR35 | 12 Month Contract | Newcastle upon Tyne (4 days per week onsite, 1 remote working) | UKEO

We're looking for an experienced Java Software Engineer to join a major UK defence programme, developing scalable cloud-based software within a modern Agile engineering environment.

This is a hands-on Java development role , with a strong cloud-native focus and exposure to containerisation and DevSecOps throughout the software lifecycle.

Key experience:

Strong commercial Java development experience

Cloud services / cloud-native development

Unit and automated testing

Spring / Spring Boot and microservices

Kubernetes and/or Red Hat OpenShift

CI/CD and DevSecOps experience

SonarQube, Tekton, ArgoCD, Quarkus or Angular beneficial

Security requirements Due to the security restrictions of the programme, applicants must already hold active SC clearance and be a sole British national . Unfortunately, candidates who do not meet both requirements cannot be considered.
