Job Description

We’re looking for a Systems Integration Engineer to play a pivotal role in integrating and validating new systems, features, and payloads across Kraken’s platforms.This role leads the technical delivery of assigned integration workstreams — from feasibility studies and solution architecture through to testing, evaluation, and deployment of scalable, reliable system capabilities. You’ll work closely with multi‑disciplinary engineering teams including Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, Control Systems, and Software, helping to bring complex systems together into operational solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesDesigning and implementing integration solutions across hardware, software, and networked systemsAnalysing system requirements to identify integration needs, constraints, and risksDeveloping system architectures and clear technical documentationLeading problem‑solving and troubleshooting of integration issuesCollaborating with cross‑functional teams, including: Software engineering Network and communications specialists Product and programme teams Maritime operationsCreating and maintaining technical documentation such as: Integration specifications System diagrams Test procedures and troubleshooting guides Supporting system verification, testing, and evaluation activitiesMonitoring system performance and recommending improvements for: Reliability Scalability SecurityQualificationsDegree, HND, or equivalent in an engineering discipline such as:Systems EngineeringElectrical / Electronic EngineeringSoftware EngineeringMechanical EngineeringProven experience in a technical engineering roleA practical, hands‑on approach to integration, testing, and fault‑findingStrong understanding of systems thinking and how complex systems interactExperience working in small, cross‑functional engineering teamsStrong written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearlyExperience with documentation, configuration control, and diligent record‑keepingExperienceExperience in maritime, aerospace, or automotive industriesExposure to autonomous or robotic systemsPrevious experience in a systems engineering or systems integration roleKnowledge of data networks such as CAN, IP, and serial communicationsUnderstanding of communications systems, including: RF (HF, VHF, UHF, MANET) 4G / 5G Satellite communicationsBasic electrical engineering knowledge, particularly 12V / 24V vehicle systems, and awareness of electrical safetyProfessional ResponsibilitiesTakes ownership and drives integration tasks through to completionCommunicates clearly across multiple engineering disciplinesApplies strong judgement when resolving technical challengesBalances attention to detail with delivery paceMaintains professionalism when working with internal teams and customersWorkWork on complex, real‑world engineering systemsInfluence how advanced technologies are integrated into operational platformsCollaborate with experienced engineers across multiple disciplinesContribute directly to deployable, mission‑critical capabilitiesBenefits25 days holiday per year, plus paid bank holidayAfter two years’ consecutive service, one additional day’s annual leave up to a maximum of five additional days annual leaveHoliday buy/sell, up to five days per calendar yearFlexi working, core hours 10:00 to 15:00, subject to departmental requirementsPrivate Medical Insurance with optional family coverPension scheme with a 5% employer contribution, there is no cap on the employee contribution levelLife assurance 3x salaryGroup Income Protection 3x salary, subject to eligibilityHealth Care Cash PlanCycle to Work SchemeElectric Car SchemeEmployee Assistance Program (EAP) providing mental health and wellbeing supportProfessional membership reimbursementEligibility and ClearanceDue to the nature of our work many of our roles require a UK nationality and the ability to obtain a security clearance.
