Job Description

Job Title – Engineering Manager

Location – Wrexham

Type – Permanent

Our client are a leading food manufacturer working with the Uks leading brands. Due to growth, they are now seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to manage and develop the Engineering department. This person will be responsible for day-to-day management of the engineering function to ensure all equipment, utilities, and facilities operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. The role provides strategic and operational leadership across maintenance, asset care and compliance.

Dimensions:

Responsible for Safety and food safety within area of control

Responsible for the maintenance & availability of the process & packing lines.

Make incremental improvements & changes in terms of reliability, moving to a preventative model, reducing machinery downtime, maintain & improve stability.

Manage departmental budget, resource planning, contractor control, and performance management.

Managing the R&R to agreed budget, controlling engineering stocks seeking ways to balance Risk vs Cost

Build a strong culture of safety, accountability, and proactive maintenance.

Leading, coaching and developing the maintenance team

Professionalize the maintenance department with a strong focus on predictive and preventive maintenance.

Installation & de-installation of plant & equipment, as required

Working with others on a range of Engineering and Operational Projects ensuring budgetary, technical compliance and target timelines are met.

Driving and reporting on key performance indicators to manage the effectiveness of the department and share to the wider team 

Key deliverables:

Ensure the department is Audit ready at all times and fully compliant with ALL legal and mandatory requirements including BRC, SMETA, L8, Pressure system regulations, Electrical fixed wiring, PAT testing and customer audits.

Drive the completion of PPM standards and planned reactive activities to an overall target of >85%, with all category A (high priority) activities >95% completion.

Drive system and process improvements in the department to support the delivery of a site OEE of greater than 80%.

Manage the annual (R&R) Repairs and renewals budget and labor budget to within agreed levels.

Manage and coach the team to ensure resources are utilized effectively, skills developedSkills Required:
