Credit Controller

I’m currently recruiting for a Credit Controller to join a well-established business in Northampton on a 6-month fixed-term contract.

This is a hands-on role sitting within the Finance team, with responsibility for managing customer accounts, chasing outstanding debt, resolving queries and supporting with cash allocation and month-end activity. You’ll work closely with customers, Account Managers, Customer Service and the wider Finance team.

The role would suit someone who enjoys speaking with customers, is confident managing overdue accounts and can balance strong relationship-building with a commercial approach to credit control.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring customer accounts and identifying overdue invoices
• Contacting customers by phone and email to collect outstanding payments
• Resolving invoice, statement and payment queries
• Posting and allocating cash payments
• Assisting with account reconciliations
• Supporting credit checks, trade references and new account set-up
• Supporting month-end reporting
• Escalating problematic accounts where required
• Maintaining accurate customer records and supporting the wider Finance team

You’ll need:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Confidence speaking with customers over the phone
• Good attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organisation and time management skills
• The ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
• A good working knowledge of Excel, Outlook and Word
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team

The salary is £28,500 to £30,000, with an additional £1,000 retention bonus.

This is predominantly an office-based role in Northampton with no travel required.
