Absence Admin Support – £37,379/year | Full-Time | Sheffield, UK | Northern

Overview

Northern is hiring an Absence Admin Support professional to help manage sickness absence across its workforce. This is a full‑time, Sheffield‑based role with occasional travel depending on business needs. You’ll support managers in handling absence cases fairly and consistently, ensuring smooth operations and strong team performance.

  • Salary: £37,379 per annum
  • Reports to: Operations Manager
  • Type: Full‑Time
  • Contract: Permanent

Responsibilities

  • Support managers with all aspects of sickness absence, including note‑taking at meetings
  • Schedule meetings and prepare documentation in line with policy
  • Analyse absence trends and provide data insights to improve wellbeing and performance
  • Assist with the alternative duties process and maintain accurate records

Candidate Profile

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Background in HR administration or absence management
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with HR systems such as SAP or Skylight
  • Ability to work independently and handle sensitive data with discretion
