Job DescriptionEnglish Language Teacher - Brighton ScoolStarting date: ASAPWorking Hours: Up to 30 hours per weekSalary: £15.68-£21.27Availability: Must be able to commit to teach for the entirety of Junior Summer School (1st July – 9th August 2024)Job PurposeTo teach English to groups of junior and adult students following a syllabus and using materials appropriate to the students and course type.Main duties and responsibilitiesTeachingPrepare lessons using materials provided for Junior Summer School as directed, but also adapting and supplementing as required to meet student needsTeach junior classes in the Brighton SchoolUse classroom technology to enhance students’ learning experienceEffectively manage students and their behaviour (with the support of the Academic Management Team)Encourage student participation through a positive and enthusiastic attitude about activities in which they are involvedBe observed by members of the AMT for the purposes of professional development and quality control and by TESOL trainees as part of OIEG’s Teacher Training provisionTeach morning and afternoon classes; hours are not set, and schedule will be changed, as requiredProvide testing when requiredTeach demonstration lessons for agents/potential students as arranged with the AMTAdministrativeAttend weekly staff meetingsKeep an accurate record of student attendance and lateness on paperMonitor student attendance and alert the AMT to any absences where required (e.g. under 18, when worrying, or more than 3 days)Complete a weekly scheme of work by the Monday of each weekComplete any other administrative tasks required for the effective operation of the schoolOtherAttend staff induction prior to the start of the contractComplete welfare and safeguarding training, and any other non-teaching training requiredBe a positive and professional role model for the students, representing the core values of OIEGAttend CPD sessions provided by OIEG.
