Controls Systems Engineer
Location: Greater Manchester** Salary: Up to £55,000 + Paid Overtime + Bonus** Expected Annual Earnings: Circa £80,000** Travel: Approximately 50% UK and International**
Are you an experienced Controls Engineer who enjoys seeing a project through from software development and panel testing to installation, commissioning and ongoing customer support?
This is an opportunity to join an established engineering business that designs and manufactures high-value capital equipment for high-speed manufacturing sectors.
You will work on technically interesting machinery and automation projects, writing and developing control software before supporting testing, installation and commissioning at customer sites across the UK and internationally.
The Role
As a Controls Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, testing and commissioning control systems for bespoke capital equipment.
Your responsibilities will include:
Writing and developing PLC software
Creating and modifying HMI applications
Working with Siemens and Allen-Bradley/Rockwell control systems
Testing control panels and machinery before dispatch
Supporting machine build, electrical testing and fault-finding
Commissioning equipment at customer sites
Diagnosing and resolving controls and automation issues
Providing on-site technical support during installation and production trials, as well as ongoing technical support to customers
Working closely with electrical, mechanical and project engineering teams
Producing and maintaining relevant technical documentation

Approximately 50% of your time will involve travel to customer sites. This will include projects throughout the UK as well as international assignments.
What We Are Looking For
You will need previous experience working as a Controls Engineer, Controls Systems Engineer, PLC Engineer or Automation Engineer within a machinery, automation or capital equipment environment.
You should have experience in:
PLC software development
HMI development
Siemens PLC systems
Allen-Bradley or Rockwell PLC systems
Control panel and machinery testing
Fault-finding and problem-solving
Installation and commissioning
Supporting equipment and customers on-site

Experience working with high-speed manufacturing, production machinery, special-purpose machinery or automated equipment would be particularly relevant.
You must also be comfortable travelling regularly throughout the UK and internationally.
Salary and Benefits

Basic salary of up to £55,000 per annum
