Control Systems Engineer

Location: Coventry with some overseas travel

Salary: £40,000-£47,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 7:30am-4:00pm; Friday, 7:30am-3:00pm

Job Type: Permanent, full-time

The Opportunity

A well-established machine tool engineering company in Coventry is looking for an experienced Control Systems Engineer.

The successful candidate must have practical experience commissioning Siemens variable speed drives (S120), Siemens PLCs using STEP 7/TIA Portal and Siemens CNC controls.

Duties & Responsibilities

Commission a range of CNC machine tools.

Test electrical control circuits and safety circuits.

Configure, load and test PLC and CNC controls, mainly Siemens.

Complete measuring system calibrations.

Prepare machines for production trials.

Load and test CNC systems, Siemens HMIs and servo drives.

Design control circuits, including hardware and PLC systems.

Functionally test machine tools against product and contract specifications.

Ensure compliance with CE and UKCA requirements.

Provide customer support.Candidate Requirements

Practical experience commissioning Siemens S120 variable speed drives.

Experience with Siemens PLCs, including STEP 7 and TIA Portal.

Experience working with Siemens CNC controls.

Ability to read electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic circuit diagrams.

Experience with low-voltage AC and DC control circuits.

Experience setting up and commissioning inverter drives and servo motors.

Good working knowledge of actuators and sensors.

Practical fault-finding experience across electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Understanding and practical knowledge of CNC machine tools.

Experience reading and writing PLC programs.

Competent using Windows, Microsoft Office, TIA Portal, STEP 7 and EPLAN.

Basic NC programming experience.

Siemens 840D experience would be advantageous.

Well-motivated, confident and comfortable travelling overseas when required.Apply
