Lead Software Engineer

This role will involve working with a multi-disciplinary technical team to support delivery of automation software scope in a project’s full lifecycle. The role would be suited to a proactive and resourceful individual with good software coding knowledge who can work with other technical teams and communicate clearly.

This position will initially be home-based, with the expectation of working from a Scotland-based office once established. The role will also require occasional travel to Liverpool as part of normal business activities.

Key Tasks

• Development of project documentation such Software Design Specification and User requirement Specification and progress reports, amongst others.
• Designing and developing data ingestion software, both front and backend development.
• Tech Transfer between our clients and partners.
• Working directly with our clients to record and deliver their software needs through automation.
• Ensuring traceability of both the design work and process data.

Technical

• Experience with designing and building databases, ingestion services and web applications.
• Experience writing technical reports.
• Knowledge of python, SQL, HTML and experience using VScode.

Other skills that would be advantageous but are not essential:

• Knowledge and understanding of different SCADA packages, PLC systems and HMIs.
• Server administration background.
• Knowledge and understanding of PostgreSQL, Async Python, and Docker.

Qualifications

A Computer science or Engineering degree or a higher technical qualification is normally required, however, relevant experience with the willingness and ability to learn, and adapt is more important.

Location

Initially home-based while the Glasgow/Edinburgh facility is being established. Thereafter, the successful candidate may choose to be primarily based in either Liverpool or Glasgow, with regular travel between the two locations as required.

Hours of Work

12 hours per week on a 6-month internship to full-time employment.
