The Role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a range of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and mechanical building systems. You will play a key role in ensuring all plant and equipment remain safe, compliant and fully operational.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform planned preventative and reactive maintenance on heating and air conditioning systems.
• Maintain evaporative cooling systems and domestic water systems in line with L8 requirements.
• Diagnose and resolve plant faults efficiently to minimise downtime.
• Carry out maintenance on mechanical building services equipment including pumps, motors and valves.
• Ensure maintenance records are accurately completed and updated.
• Prepare and follow risk assessments and method statements for all work activities.
• Maintain compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures.
• Build positive working relationships with colleagues, clients and contractors.
• Deliver a high standard of customer service at all times.
• Participate in an out-of-hours call-out and standby rota when required.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Formal training in mechanical services maintenance.
• Experience maintaining pumps, motors and valves.
• Knowledge of heating, cooling and air conditioning plant.
• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements within maintenance environments.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
• Commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.

Desirable

• Experience working on a client-occupied site.
• Basic Building Management System (BMS) knowledge.
• Formal health and safety qualifications or training.
• Certification in the maintenance and operation of evaporative cooling systems.
• Experience operating cooling towers.
