Job Description

Cost Engineer – Nuclear Defence – Bristol

We are currently partnering with a multidisciplinary construction and property consultancy with presence across the UK and proven success in a variety of sectors including Rail, Utilities, Energy, Roads, Energy etc. Due to continued growth in their Nuclear arm, they are actively seeking an experienced Cost Engineer to join their team spending 3 days on site in Bristol and 2 days working from home.

Responsibilities

Earned Value Management & Performance Analysis

Lead the application of Earned Value Management (EVM) processes, providing detailed analysis of cost and schedule performance, including CPI/SPI metrics, variance analysis and performance reporting across a major infrastructure programme.

Cost Reporting & Forecasting

Prepare and manage key cost deliverables including Cost of Work Done (COWD), accrued liabilities and phased forecasts of cost to complete, ensuring accurate and timely reporting aligned with programme milestones.

Change, Risk & Opportunity Costing

Assess and quantify the cost impact of planned and potential changes, as well as risks and opportunities, supporting robust commercial decision-making within a highly regulated project environment.

Cashflow & Financial Modelling

Develop and maintain detailed cashflow forecasts and financial models, providing clear visibility of project expenditure, trends and future liabilities.

Stakeholder Reporting & Commercial Insight

Produce bespoke reports and analysis for senior stakeholders, translating complex data into clear, actionable insights while providing constructive challenge to support project performance and governance.

Requirements

Minimum 2+ years’ experience in Earned Value Management (EVM) within construction, infrastructure or heavy manufacturing environments

Strong understanding of Cost of Work Done (COWD), accrued liabilities, forecasting and cost reporting processes

Must be based within a commutable distance of Bristol
