Engineering Operative

Job Description

Talentmark are currently recruiting for an Engineering Operative – Research & Development to join an innovative R&D team based in Penryn, Cornwall on a permanent, full-time basis.

This is a great opportunity to join a growing team working within a new R+D Lab.

The role will support the construction, assembly, operation, maintenance and testing of processing equipment and experimental systems, while contributing to continuous improvement and innovation.

Salary: Competative salary based on experience

Location: Penryn, Cornwall

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Construct, assemble, modify and test prototypes, experimental machinery and processing equipment.
  • Operate laboratory and pilot-scale equipment for mineral processing research and testing.
  • Carry out equipment inspections, maintenance, repairs, mechanical fitting and instrumentation calibration.
  • Maintain accurate records and support troubleshooting, equipment failure investigations and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance while supporting field trials and multidisciplinary projects.

Your Background

  • Good mechanical aptitude with practical engineering, fitting and maintenance experience.
  • Experience within an engineering workshop, industrial or mining environment.
  • Competent using hand tools, power tools and workshop machinery, with an understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
  • Able to read engineering drawings and technical specifications, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant engineering/science qualification desirable; mining/mineral processing experience or relevant certifications would be advantageous.
