Description

The purpose of this role is to provide GREAT service to all our customers, primarily through operating our tills and delivering a friendly, efficient checkout experience. You'll also help ensure we have exceptional displays and a well-stocked department.

This role will involve spending the majority of your working time serving customers on the tills, so we're looking for someone who enjoys customer interaction, stays positive under pressure, and is committed to delivering excellent service.

This role involves working and average of 5.75 hours per week, on alternate weekends.

Alternate Saturdays 10:00am-4:00pm

Alternate Sundays 11:00am-4:30pm

Key Responsibilities:

As a Retail Assistant, you will:

  • Primarily work on the tills, providing a friendly, accurate and efficient checkout service
  • Deliver a warm welcome and provide excellent customer service at all times
  • Handle customer transactions, enquiries and refunds in line with company procedures
  • Offer helpful product advice and recommend suitable solutions
  • Keep the checkout and shop floor areas clean, tidy and presentable
  • Assist with deliveries, including unpacking, labelling and stocking products
  • Create and maintain attractive merchandising displays
  • Support customers with deliveries and orders where needed
  • Work flexibly across departments to support the wider team
  • Follow health & safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment for all
  • Handle customer queries or concerns professionally, escalating where needed
  • Assist with stock control and stock counts

Skills Knowledge and Expertise:

The ideal retail assistant is someone who:

  • Ideally has previous customer service experience - but not essential.
  • Is willing to develop and learn new skills.
  • Is friendly, positive, sociable and approachable.
  • Is a strong team player.
  • Previous knowledge of retail sales principles and practices is desirable but not essential
  • Is flexible to work additional shifts and weekends if required
  • Is comfortable spending the majority of their shift serving customers at the tills.
