How will you impact?

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer capable of leading the design, development, and support of mission-critical banking services. This role places a strong emphasis on software architecture, cloud engineering, and operational excellence. You will be working on scalable, customer-facing platforms in a dynamic financial services environment.

Your key responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain mission-critical banking services and applications

Lead architectural decisions for distributed systems and microservices

Build and support cloud-native applications in multi-cloud environments

Develop robust RESTful APIs and implement asynchronous processing solutions

Ensure operational excellence through comprehensive testing strategies and production support

Participate in incident management and system reliability initiatives

Collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple locations

Required Skills & Experience:

Strong knowledge of JVM technologies and open-source frameworks

Proven experience building and supporting cloud-native applications

Deep understanding of distributed systems architecture and microservices

Hands-on experience with messaging frameworks and asynchronous processing

Experience working with relational databases and data architecture patterns

Strong production support experience, including incident management

Expertise in CI/CD pipelines and automation

Proven expertise in end-to-end testing practices (unit, component, integration, and performance testing).

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in Kotlin in addition to Java

Experience in banking, card issuing, and payment processing, including card network and gateway integrations

Experience with scalable, customer-facing platforms in financial services

Location:

Candidates based in UK/London: Hybrid model, 2-3 days per week in Canary Wharf, London.
