London | Electronic Trading | Java | Low LatencyWe're working with a technology-driven trading business looking for a hands-on Java Developer to build and enhance high-performance electronic trading systems.You’ll work closely with traders and quantitative developers, building systems where latency, performance and reliability directly impact trading outcomes.What you’ll be doingDesigning and developing low-latency, high-throughput Java trading systemsBuilding pricing, hedging, risk and algorithmic execution componentsWorking directly with traders and quantitative developersDeveloping market-data and order gatewaysIntegrating quantitative models into production trading systemsWorking with FIX, multicast and high-performance messagingOptimising JVM applications for low allocation, low GC and predictable latencyDeveloping simulation, backtesting and regression-testing frameworksTaking ownership from design and architecture through to productionThese responsibilities come directly from the underlying brief.What we’re looking forAround 4-8 years' commercial software engineering experience (This is a mid level role)Genuine low-latency / high-performance engineering experienceExperience within electronic tradingIdeally exposure to FX, eFX or CryptoStrong multithreading and concurrency knowledgeExperience with FIX and/or electronic exchange connectivityMarket-data and/or order-management systemsStrong Linux and performance-tuning knowledgeExposure to Aeron, multicast, shared memory or similar low-latency technologiesStrong CS fundamentals and an understanding of financial marketsThe core technical requirements in the original brief are Java/JVM performance, electronic trading, execution/hedging, market data, Aeron or equivalent, FIX, Linux, multithreading, shared memory and multicast.
