System Development Engineer, AWS Networking

Salary: £63,000 - 103,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust
• Relevant experience in software development, systems engineering, SRE, or DevOps roles
• Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Practical understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP)
• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (host networking, storage, Linux operating systems)
• Experience of designing, developing, or operating cloud services running on AWS or another cloud platform
• Experience with Python

Responsibilities:

• Identify and solve challenging systems, process, and tooling issues to improve outcomes for our customers
• Design and implement new software components, products, or services that improve operational efficiency
• Investigate technical issues thoroughly, perform root cause analysis, identify changes to procedures and systems, and implement long-term fixes to avoid repeating issues
• Provide solutions to technically challenging real business problems in a global organization
• Maintain and improve our teams services end-to-end
• Troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues that arise within our systems
• Design and implement testing, monitoring, and validation improvements across services, tools, and infrastructure
• Enable continuous deployment of new versions with minimal interruption
• Proactively identify areas to invent, refine, and develop automation and tools to reduce manual operations across teams
• Make pragmatic trade-offs to fulfill both current and future requirements of the business and our customers
