Job Description

What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our strong, friendly and motivated staff team, on a 1 year fixed term contract.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work under the direction of the class teacher. Your main duty will be to support a child with additional needs, on a 1:1 basis. As a TA at St Michael's, you may also work with groups of children, supporting the needs of individual children and supporting the class teacher in delivering lessons, as well as lunchtime supervision of children. The person may also be required to administer first aid (formal training will be provided). We invite applications from individuals who:

  • Can use their own initiative whilst also working effectively under the direction of others.
  • Are patient, calm, organised and adaptable in a busy school environment.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team and build positive relationships with colleagues, children and families.
  • Are enthusiastic, positive and committed to helping every child thrive.
  • Are creative, nurturing and able to motivate and inspire children.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience of working with children, knowledge of child development/how children learn and experience of supporting children with SEND would be an advantage, but not essential.
