£30,000 - £35,000 | Durham (Bowburn) | Full Time | Permanent

Reed Accountancy & Finance are delighted to be supporting a well-established and highly respected business in Durham with the recruitment of an Accounts Assistant . This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to join a successful and growing organisation, working within a supportive finance team and gaining exposure to a broad range of accounting responsibilities.

The Role

As Accounts Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

Maintaining accurate accounting records across multiple joint venture companies

Preparing and posting journals, including accruals, prepayments and intercompany transactions

Raising sales invoices and processing customer receipts

Monitoring outstanding balances and supporting credit control activities

Performing bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies

Posting receipts, payments and month-end intercompany transactions

Reconciling balance sheet control accounts and resolving reconciling items

Assisting with the preparation of monthly management information and reporting

Investigating and resolving accounting discrepancies to maintain the integrity of financial records

Supporting VAT reporting and compliance processes

Maintaining accurate audit trails and assisting with year-end audit requirements

Reconciling intercompany balances and partner loan accounts

Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function

Providing assistance to colleagues across the wider finance team when required

About You

To be considered for this opportunity, you will possess:

AAT qualification or be actively studying towards ACCA, CIMA or ACA

Previous experience in a finance or accounting role with exposure to month-end processes

A strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and core accounting principles

Experience preparing journals, balance sheet reconciliations and assisting with management accounts

Experience with bank reconciliations, VAT returns and intercompany accounting
