Job Description

Java Developer

Location: Newcastle

Working Model: Hybrid – 3 days per week in office

We’re looking for experienced Java Developers to join our technology teams in Newcastle, working on enterprise-scale solutions across complex and interesting client environments.

The majority of work is delivered locally from **Newcastle, **with a hybrid requirement of 3 days per week onsite. Some client travel may be required, but this is the exception.

The Role

You’ll work as part of an Agile engineering team, designing, developing and delivering secure, scalable applications and services.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Developing applications and microservices using Java and Spring Boot
  • Supporting the design and integration of microservice-based solutions
  • Applying engineering best practices including TDD, Continuous Integration and Continuous Testing
  • Participating in Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, refinement, stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives
  • Collaborating with developers, technical leads, test automation engineers, cloud and infrastructure teams
  • Supporting the delivery of secure and scalable cloud-based solutions
  • Mentoring and supporting the development of junior engineers where appropriate

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong hands‑on Java development
  • Spring / Spring Boot / Spring MVC
  • Microservices and enterprise application development
  • Agile/Scrum delivery
  • TDD/BDD and modern software engineering practices
  • CI/CD tooling and processes
  • Cloud-based application delivery

Experience with technologies such as Java 8–17, JavaScript, AWS, WebLogic, CAS SDK, GitLab, Jenkins and SonarQube may also be relevant depending on the position.
